Without warning, a 2020 spring sports season for MBU college athletes became a lost season because of the rampant virus, COVID-19. As they are still reeling from the news, MBU student-athletes have tried to pick up the pieces and look forward to the future.
Coronavirus has suspended life as we know it, and student-athletes’ last remaining games of the 2020 spring season have been taken away. As they mourn losing their opportunity to play, the NAIA has stepped up in a big way, granting all students who lost their season extra eligibility.
Someday, hopefully soon, when Missouri Baptist University students, faculty and staff members are back on campus there will be a new club to greet them, and it all hovers around … bees.

But St. Louis is also connected with another, often overlooked, part of history, and that is the deadly practice of dueling, which often took place on a small strip of land in the middle of the Mississippi River.
Nick Sailer, a two-sport athlete and Academic All-American at Missouri Baptist University, has moved to the operations side of the university’s complex athletics programs, accepting a position as manager of Athletic Operations.
Many people have a defining moment that changes their life forever, and for MBU professor Dr. Matthew Bardowell, this was when he saw, “The Fellowship of the Ring,” in 2001. The film inspired Bardowell and instilled in him a passion for literature, something he wishes to share and ignite in MBU students.

Following beloved fairytale characters like Cinderella, Rapunzel and Little Red Riding Hood, “Into the Woods” is a fun, fast-paced musical that challenges the audience to consider moral questions about good and evil as small, hidden elements of the Gospel message propel the story.
John Smith fell through the ice of Lake St. Louis over five years ago and spent 15 minutes submerged under its frozen surface, leaving him dead for over an hour. However, the power of hundreds of prayers produced a miracle as Smith was revived without explanation and fully recovered from the incident. Two firefighters involved in the rescue operation, Christopher Fay and Joseph Morrow, were firsthand witnesses to the events depicted in the movie “Breakthrough,” released in 2019.
Last year was a time for change at MBU. Most significantly, President Keith Ross was inaugurated as Missouri Baptist’s seventh president in October 2018, and is now completing his first full year in the position.
