Harvesting Holiness During Halloween

As a Christian who doesn’t celebrate Halloween, I have found different ways to celebrate fall with events that glorify God instead of participating in a traditionally demonic holiday.

The History of Halloween

As Halloween comes around each and every year, people get excited to put out decorations and get their costumes ready just in time for “spooky season.” But what is the history of this so-called holiday and who celebrated it first?

Ghosts, Ghouls and Glowsticks

In the spirit of Halloween, Photojournalism students experimented with exposure, long shutter speeds, glow sticks, fire and Halloween masks in our blacked-out studio. We adjusted our camera settings, set up tripods and created light effects around festive props to produce some amazingly spooky effects.

Watch Out for the Halloween Queen

If you’re looking for the Queen of Halloween herself you can find her in Oakville, Missouri, and her house is one you can not miss. Be sure to take a visit this Halloween, it’s a house tour you will never forget.

A Very Graphic Halloween

MBU photojournalism students captured timed-exposure photos using various Halloween masks, lights and fire prior to editing and creating the ultimate Halloween graphics.

Happy Thanks-Christmas?

The transition from Thanksgiving to Christmas is a much-debated topic in the U.S. today.  In this article, Jill Burroughs discusses the lead up to Christmas with various MBU students. Her feature story is paired with Matt Williams’ opinion piece discussing when Christmas music is appropriate on the radio.

A Trip To The Pumpkin Patch

Thies Farms features picking your own pumpkins, petting farm animals, gourds, produce, flowers, tractor rides and Pumpkin Land. Pumpkin Land is a little theme park for children and families which has hay towers, zip lining, more pumpkins to choose from and toy machines that blast potatoes, called potato shooters.

Shutdown the Clown

As Halloween arrives tonight, parents, trick-or-treating children and even college students around the U.S. are left thinking about the recent clown sightings and whether they are an elaborate movie promotion or truly people wanting to scare others.  Photo Courtesy of Google
