Celebrating Christmas at MBU – 2022

With winter fast approaching and the air becoming crisper, jingle bells whisper in the wind as vibrant red and green colors begin to appear, meaning it must be getting close to Christmas time. This holiday season, MBU has put on a variety of activities and events throughout December leading up to Christmas break. Students had a blast participating in all the fun activities. Students who are a part of MBU’s Opinion Writing class also shared their favorite winter season foods as they look forward to spending time with friends and family during Christmas.

Shaping My Music Taste

My sister was the biggest influence on my music taste. I was a pre-teen when she was a teenager and I wanted to be just like her, everything from her fashion style to the music she listened to. She listened to pop stars such as Justin Bieber, Ke$ha, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift. Ke$ha’s debut album, “Animal,” was a huge hit among teenage girls because she wrote songs about experiences many girls go through growing up: having crushes, partying and being betrayed by a friend, to name a few.

Bring On The Joy! Bring On The Cheer!

My family and I love spending time together for the holidays. Our favorite Christmas tradition is gathering at my house and watching a Christmas movie, while drinking hot chocolate before we open up gifts from each other. Decorating for Christmas is also one of my favorite activities around the holidays because it just makes my house more cheery and bright. I’ve put together some holiday pictures that represent what the holidays mean to me.

Swiftly Growing Up to the Tunes of Taylor

Music, technology and people all change as time goes on. Taylor Swift has arguably been one of the most consistent and well-known female American singer-songwriters of her time, with her work spanning multiple genres of music. Currently, Swift’s newest album, “Midnights,” is listed No. 1 on Billboard for top sales.

Styx Songs and “So Longs”

A song that was made our “class song” during our senior year of high school rang much too true at the end of the school year. It brought hope and peace to us in a way that other senior classes wouldn’t understand. No one expected our last year of high school to end the way it did, but that Styx song made it all the better.

The Impact of a Timeless Album

The album “?”, by Xxxtentacion had a significant impact on teens across the United States, including me, because of the intriguing songs that worked together to make this a meaningful track-list. There is no better soundtrack to improve your mindset throughout a difficult summer.

Capturing Missouri Baptist University’s 2022 Homecoming

Homecoming at Missouri Baptist University is always a blast, filled with some of the most anticipated activities of the academic year. This year, MBU’s Homecoming took place on Oct. 24-29 with events that catered to the entire MBU community, such as the Lip Sync Battle, Spartacus’ Birthday Party, Art in the Sunshine, Cornhole Tournament, Bonfire, Kaldi’s and Kolaches, Homecoming Tailgate Festival, football game and the famous thePerk [25] event. Once again, MBU students, staff, faculty and alumni alike were captured showing off their school spirt during this year’s week of Homecoming fun.

What is Your Spirit Animal?

All across the globe, people have taken various personality tests like the Myers Briggs or the popular Buzzfeed quizzes in order to help them learn more about themselves, so I thought it would be fun to use all this information we acquired and put it to good humor by going around to different spots on campus and asking MBU students one simple question: What is your spirit animal and why?

Communications Seniors Conquer Their Capstones

The seniors of the spring 2022 Senior Communications Seminar class work on capstone projects as a way to show off their personal portfolios and their communications skills they have learned during their enrollment at Missouri Baptist University.
