Operation Spread Christmas Joy

The concept of giving is emphasized a lot throughout the holidays, yet often there is an idea of giving with the expectation of receiving something in return. One of the most life-altering lessons that I have ever learned was how to prioritize blessing others and expect nothing in return.

Celebrating Christmas at MBU – 2022

With winter fast approaching and the air becoming crisper, jingle bells whisper in the wind as vibrant red and green colors begin to appear, meaning it must be getting close to Christmas time. This holiday season, MBU has put on a variety of activities and events throughout December leading up to Christmas break. Students had a blast participating in all the fun activities. Students who are a part of MBU’s Opinion Writing class also shared their favorite winter season foods as they look forward to spending time with friends and family during Christmas.

A Soundtrack for Senior Year

Music is my favorite way to break writer’s block, and my high school creative writing class is a testament to that with “Strangers” by Mt. Joy being the inspiration behind the protagonist of my short story.

Shaping My Music Taste

My sister was the biggest influence on my music taste. I was a pre-teen when she was a teenager and I wanted to be just like her, everything from her fashion style to the music she listened to. She listened to pop stars such as Justin Bieber, Ke$ha, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift. Ke$ha’s debut album, “Animal,” was a huge hit among teenage girls because she wrote songs about experiences many girls go through growing up: having crushes, partying and being betrayed by a friend, to name a few.

Netflix “Dahmer” Series Exposes Mind of a Twisted Man

Netflix has recently released several Jeffrey Dahmer documentaries and series following the story of the serial killer’s life, from a young age up until when he committed his heinous crimes, to his death in prison. Evan Peters gives a chilling performance in “Dahmer- Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story,” in which he captivates watchers from his mannerisms to the way he talks, his portrayal being truly uncanny to the real deal. This series focuses more on the victims in the case. Each episode follows what happened to a victim and more about their personal lives leading up to their untimely death.

Swiftly Growing Up to the Tunes of Taylor

Music, technology and people all change as time goes on. Taylor Swift has arguably been one of the most consistent and well-known female American singer-songwriters of her time, with her work spanning multiple genres of music. Currently, Swift’s newest album, “Midnights,” is listed No. 1 on Billboard for top sales.

The Impact of a Timeless Album

The album “?”, by Xxxtentacion had a significant impact on teens across the United States, including me, because of the intriguing songs that worked together to make this a meaningful track-list. There is no better soundtrack to improve your mindset throughout a difficult summer.

The Hallmark Cinematic Universe

The holidays are quickly approaching, meaning families are breaking out their favorite holiday-themed movies to play in the background while decking the halls and making festive cookies. A quick, easy alternative to dusting off your old DVD cases is the Hallmark Channel, which plays a constant stream of Christmas movies for the two months leading up to Christmas.

Vacation Bible School Isn’t Just For Kids

Vacation Bible School is a week-long summer program that allows children of all backgrounds to have the opportunity to gather together, have fun, and learn about Jesus. Though the concept sounds like something that would mainly have influence over children, being involved in the program presents a unique opportunity for all ages to grow their faiths and be encouraged by one another.

Top Five Coffee Shops in St. Louis

College students are always looking for new study spots so I took it upon myself to tour coffee shops in the St. Louis area and determine where MBU students can find their focus as well as a good cup of Joe.
