Faces of the Great Outdoors

MBU Timeline November 4, 2021

With the cool fall weather in the air, many students are spending time in the great outdoors. Students at Missouri Baptist University are busy competing in fall sports and enjoying fellowship with other students as we emerge from a pandemic that kept us hidden behind face coverings for more than a year. MBU photojournalists Patrick Griffey and Autumn Heaton captured the faces of MBU Outdoors, Spartan football and Spartan cheer that we have missed while they were hidden under face masks.

Isn’t it great to see faces again this semester? Smiling faces, angry faces, laughing faces, stressed-out faces, praying faces … just seeing faces on campus is such a positive aspect of this current semester. ThePerk is one of students’ favorite locations on the MBU campus. In the fall of 2020, everyone at MBU wore masks because of the pandemic. As we continue to emerge from living through a season with required face coverings, MBU photojournalists Emily Heflin and Madisyn House capture some new and familiar faces that we can now see around thePerk.

Whether it is athletics in junior high, high school, college or professional sports, COVID-19 has ruined countless games, seasons and careers. Some businesses can afford temporary shutdowns, while others have been forced to close their doors forever. Living Life on the Edge, Even During a Pandemic

In the midst of a global pandemic, it is important to have some sort of escape that allows you to get your mind off of things. Rock climbing has become a great way for these students from Missouri Baptist University to get outside and enjoy creation. When they spend time on the rock wall all of the stress from the pandemic goes out the window for a bit.

Service Day Encourages Servant Hearts at MBU

MBU’s Service Day is dedicated to bringing together faculty, staff and students to demonstrate the grace and mercy of Christ by serving others. The MBU community had the opportunity to package meals for Meals for a Million to feed families in need throughout Missouri, stuff bears for hospitalized children with Sharing Smiles and donate their lightly used shoes to the less fortunate in Haiti.

MBU Timeline January 16, 2020

MBU seniors Sarah Broyles and Audrey Frost interviewed William J. Federer, best-selling author from St. Louis, at the Fall Media Talk. Federer provided insightful historical context to modern events that have shaped our lives, approaching many current challenges from a Christian perspective.

MBU Homecoming Football Game Photo Gallery

The MBU Spartans took on the St. Xavier Cougars at the university’s annual Homecoming game Oct. 19. The Spartans’ offense was productive, led by quarterback John Lux, who threw 22 completions for 370 yards and four touchdowns. The Spartans lost their Homecoming game, 45-34.
