The old Crystal City Sand Mines have made some enormous caves that have now been turned into a bar, restaurant, multiple performance stages, boat barge, 18-hole disc golf course and over 15 volleyball courts.
Spartan Preview Day is a time that all prospective students can come to Missouri Baptist University’s campus where they can meet the professors, coaches and current students and learn about the various majors and organizations the school has to offer.
The Spartans dropped to 0-5 on the season, but they look forward to the remainder of the schedule, and improving in just the second year of football at Missouri Baptist University.
For the third year in a row, Fall Fest warmed students up to the cool weather ahead. Despite the dreary day, there were many exciting activities like the chili cook-off, pumpkin carving, a pie-eating contest and an outdoor movie.
The Spartans played for something on Wednesday that was bigger than just winning a conference game. As the women took down St. Louis College of Pharmacy easily in three sets, they also brought awareness to thyroid cancer and raised over $2,000 in memory of Mike Brendel.
Attendees could dunk coaches and teammates in the dunk tank as well as enjoy chili and pretzels. Women’s Volleyball raised over $2,000 and all proceeds went to thyroid cancer research.
The International Student Services office provides services for the 52 international students at MBU. From extensive help with paperwork to working through culture shock, the ISS office is an amazing resource for its students. Last weekend, they held their first-ever BBQ to kick off the school year and provide an opportunity for the students to get to know each other. The BBQ was held at the home of Jessica Fitzgerald, director of International Student Services.
Ballwin Cycles bike shop is located off of Manchester Road in Ballwin and has been around for 21 years. Ballwin Cycles has made a statement of being one of the best bike shops in St. Louis. Ballwin Cycles maintains a little neighborhood shop atmosphere in which customers can feel comfortable.
Nine of the country’s best BBQ pit masters met in St. Louis at Soldiers Memorial to show off the smokey flavors of their own hometowns. The event featured a few St. Louis favorites like Sugar Fire and Pappy’s, as well as BBQ from New York, Texas, Mississippi and Tennessee.
